Rockland Road Runners’ 2020 Turkey Trot Goes Virtual!

2020 has been incredibly challenging for all of us as we are faced with the COVID-19 Pandemic.  It has impacted every one us.  To protect the safety of our participants and to keep the mission of raising money for The Marisa Fund in focus, we have decided to go virtual for 2020. This year, our commitment is even more important than ever. Fundraising events around the country are being cancelled but pediatric cancer is not. Children who are in or slated to begin clinical trials that could save their lives will be unable to get this treatment without the dollars we raise from this years race. We need you now, more than ever as we unite toward our goal of curing pediatric cancer.

The 29th Annual 5 Mile Turkey Trot for The Marisa Fund will be a virtual event this year

The Rockland Road Runners’ 5 Mile Turkey Trot for The Marisa Fund has become the largest running event in Rockland County, drawing over 3,100+ participants from the NY Metro area and beyond. 2020 is the 29th Annual Run – and the FIRST ever Virtual Run! The money raised will support the efforts of the Marisa Fund to eradicate childhood cancer. Join us the week of Thanksgiving for a truly memorable running experience!

WHERE: Anywhere you like. How you complete your 5 miles is completely up to you. We just ask that you please practice social distancing along the way.

WHEN: You have from Sunday, Nov 22 to Sunday, Nov 29 to complete your 5 miles any way you like. If you are not happy with your time, feel free to run it again. If you pick a course that is too challenging, you are welcome to try a different route. If 5 miles all at once sound too difficult, you can break up your 5 miles into smaller segments. This year is completely up to you. We just want to make sure that everyone continues to enjoy the tradition of the Turkey Trot.

FEES: $40 – General | $30 – RRR members | $25 Senior (65+)
All fees include the mailing of your shirt for your safety and ours. Keeping safer separately, will bring us back together sooner!

EACH ONE, REACH ONE: Are you a high school student who volunteers for the Turkey Trot for service hours? No problem! For each person you refer, you will qualify for a service letter! A unique referral link will be included in your registration confirmation email. Use that link to share with your track team mates, coach, family and friends! For every referral you will get that important service letter! All service letters will be mailed after the race is completed. *You will also be able to find your referral link in your RunSignup Profile after registering.

RACE SHIRTS: All participants will have their Turkey Trot shirt mailed to them for your safety and ours. Keeping safer separately, will bring us together sooner! Your race fee includes the mailing cost. If you register by November 1, you will have your shirt in time for the run!

*Please do not come to Rockland Lake State Park on Thanksgiving Day to run the usual race course. We do not condone group running, nor pre/post run gatherings during the COVID-19 crisis. Please follow CDC Guidelines to protect yourself and your community.
