The Turkey Trot

The Rockland Road Runner 5 Mile Turkey Trot for The Marisa Fund has become the largest running event in Rockland County, drawing over 3500 participants from the NY Metro area and beyond. This will be the 27th annual run and the money raised will support the efforts of The Marisa Fund to eradicate childhood cancer. Race proceeds also benefit People to People to help feed the hungry, Rockland County Police Hispanic Society scholarship fund and the RRR scholarship fund.

The Marisa Fund

A recognized 501(C)3 charity, The Marisa Fund was established by David Goldwasser following the sad and untimely death of his daughter, Marisa. Marisa beat cancer twice, but the related therapies needed to treat her eventually took her life. The fund supports research to find less toxic treatment protocols so we can kill the cancer and save the patient. The fund also provides financial assistance to families of children with cancer when they are unable to meet the high cost of care. Our EIN tax exempt # is 47-0951915

The Marisa Fund is a partner with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. supporting the cancer fighting research of Dr. Mitchell Cairo at NY Medical College at Westchester Medical Center and the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.

All donations to The Marisa Fund go directly to improving the chances of survival for pediatric cancer patients by finding ways to reduce the risks of associated therapies and by making treatment affordable to all children. We hope that future patients will not suffer as Marisa did.
